Buffett was born in 1930 in Omaha. His father was a stock broker. He was interested in the stock market since his school days. He made his first investment in the stock market at the age of 11 years.
Making money was warren Buffett’s prime interest. He started selling newspapers and cold drinks at the early age of 14 years. He was able to purchase land of 40 Acers from the profit earned from various businesses at the early age of 14 years. He rented the purchased land and earn a rent of $120000.
After graduation at the age of 30 years, he joined Charlie Munger and purchased a dying textile mill – Berkshire Hathaway. He gradually closed the textile business and converted the textile business into a financial and investment engine. That has become the world’s most powerful holding company.
The glory of Berkshire Hathaway
Berkshire Hathaway is a true wealth creator for investors. In 1965 Berkshire’s per-stock book value was $19 and today in 2022 it is $545,870.00. If you have invested just $10000 in Berkshire shares in 1965 today you would have over $254 million.
Warren Buffett purchased Berkshire Hathaway (A textile company) in 1965. After purchasing Textile Company, Buffett slowly started to side-line textile business and started acquiring a troubled business and slowly turned around these businesses. Examples are GEICO & Duracell.
The major investment of Berkshire Hathaway is into stocks of the insurance, financial, clothing, entertainment, and food industries.
Berkshire Hathaway invests in companies that have a long history of paying dividends.

The major holding of Berkshire Hathaway is in Apple and Bank of America followed by American express and Coca Cola.
Other big companies where company has invested money are Coca Cola, Kraft Heinz, Moodys & Verizon Communications, Davita, General Motors, Chevron, Verisign etc.
More than 43% holding of this stock is in Apple company. 14% holding is in Bank of America and 8% holding is in American Express. Together this three holding adds $225 billion to Berkshire balance sheet. More over these companies distributes profit in terms of dividend which again used to purchase more such stocks.
The company always makes investment for the long term and selects dividend paying stocks. The majority of stocks where company has invested money such as Coca Cola, Bank of America, American express, Davita, Moodys, General Motors are long term investments and profitable companies paying good dividend.
